Slime Gift Guide

Buying for a friend or loved one, and don’t even know what slime is? Well well well, then this page is for you! In this section we’ll go over some basics of slime, gifting (such as how long beforehand can you buy it!), and general information on the company.

This is actually great for any first-time buyers to review, the reason we target it towards those buying as gifts is because they’re less likely to have seen this information before from our social media or emails!

When Should I Buy?

If you want to keep things super simple, we recommend purchasing NO EARLIER than a month before the gifting date to ensure the slime is as fresh as possible!

Here’s the full context (if you’re interested):

Slime’s main ingredients are glue and activator, that’s what turns it from glue into a more putty-like substance. However, over the course of time the activator “evaporates” – well, I don’t know the chemical term for it – but basically the bonds between them break down and it slowly turns back into glue causing the slime to get sticky.

It’ll start getting a bit sticky after a few weeks, and then after 1-2 months can start getting very sticky. This is still fixable with our included activator pens, BUT it’s not a great gifting experience if you get it and it’s completely melted. It’s much more manageable to simply add a bit of activator every few weeks instead of waiting until it’s fully melted after a few months.

HOWEVER – we do have some slime textures that don’t get sticky nearly as quickly! We’ll cover it more in the next section, but these slimes actually don’t get sticky for over 3 months. However, as many of them are multi-colored, we still don’t recommend buying them too far in advance or the colors may begin to mix.

What Slimes Are Best For Gifting?

We often refer to slimes as “beginner friendly”, and what we mean by that is typically even people who don’t know anything about slime can enjoy it without problems!

As we went over in the previous section, some of our slimes can get sticky and require being sprayed every few weeks. These are slimes we may not recommend to those who aren’t yet familiar with slime – but it’s all up to personal preference!

Many of our slimes use “instant snow” as a main ingredient to give it a fluffier texture, and as a nice bonus these are the slimes that don’t get sticky nearly as quickly. That’s why we often refer to these slimes as beginner friendly. The slimes with an instant snow base include: cloud dough, cloud, and icee. But don’t get me wrong, our other textures are incredible and unique as well! Anyway, here’s a full breakdown of our slimes below.

Our Most Giftable Slimes

Cloud Dough Slime

This slime is made with a mix of instant snow and soft clay for a holdable, doughy feel perfect for people who are new to slime! This texture is great for gifting because of its more thick nature and less-sticky feel!

Cloud Slime

This texture is like Cloud Dough, but with an extra bit of drizzle! Cloud slime has a higher concentration of instant snow powder to create a fluffy and drizzly texture. This slime is great for gifting for the same reasons Cloud Doughs are – A lot of snow powder to keep them intact longer.

Icee Slime

This is a slightly wet and super sizzly slime texture that is still very easy to play with and hold if you’re gifting to a new slimer. We would recommend selecting single color icee slimes for gifting, since the higher water content can make these slimes mix together a bit faster, but this slime is a great gifting slime regardless for it’s holdability and high concentration of snow powder!

Butter slime or Memory Butter Slime

Soft, smooth and creamy, butter slimes (and memory butters! They are just the more clay-dense version of a normal butter slime!) are very smooth and great for inflating. These slimes can have a shorter shelf life due to the high percentage of air-dry clay that gives these slimes their texture, but they make great gifts due to that high percentage of clay as well! It makes the slimes holdable and very easy to manage for anyone new to slime.

More Advanced Slimes

Clear Slime

Don’t get us wrong, clear slimes are incredibly fun to play with! They do take a more experienced pair of hands to master though, so they wouldn’t make a great gift for smaller children or those that have never touched slime before. This type of slime can also turn sticky faster than slimes with snow powder in them as it is made up exclusively of glue and activator.

Thick And Glossy Slime

These slimes make the best bubble pops and give best true “slime” experience. They do have the same issues as clear slimes, being a bit trickier to play with and having a shorter shelf life.

Bingsu Slime

One of our most ASMR packed crunchy slime textures, we love bingsu slimes for their sizzles and inflation! They have the same issues as a snow fizz when it comes to newer slimers, as well as becoming sticky a bit quicker than the snow-based slimes.

Snow Fizz Slime

These slimes are densely packed with shredded plastic snow that make super satisfying bubble pops and crunches! They can be a bit harder to master for new slimers and have a lot of plastic snow added in which can irritate more
sensitive hands.

General Slime Tips for First Time Buyers

How Long Does Delivery Take?

Ground Shipping and First Class takes 7-12 days for delivery.

Fedex Express takes 3-5 days for delivery

This is TOTAL time it takes to deliver, which includes processing times.

Why Is My Slime Sticky?

We suggest washing hands and surfaces before playing with slime, as certain hand products and cleaners can make it sticky or deactivate it. Avoid using hand sanitizer, which can also make slime stickier by deactivating it.

Newcomers to slime may notice stickiness if they move their hands slowly while playing. Slime works best with short, quick motions. If the slime remains sticky, try using the Sticky Fix Spray Pen included. Add a few sprays directly to the slime, mix it, and assess the texture. Repeat until you achieve the desired consistency.

How do I prevent your slime from drying out?

Slime can dry out when exposed to air for too long. Always make sure to put your slimes away in their containers with the lids on tightly when you’re done playing with them!

In some slime types, like the butter slime mentioned above, one of the main ingredients is air-dry clay. This type of clay can dry out over time or after a lot of play sessions and tends to need to be replaced sooner than others.

Why Is My Slime Shrinking?

When it comes to slime, it doesn’t actually decrease in size on its own, but playing with it leads to bits sticking to surfaces or hands, which eventually get removed. This continual removal results in the overall mass diminishing over time. To counter this, it’s helpful to use the slime itself to mop up any remaining bits after each play session, thereby minimizing loss.

This occurrence is more frequent with snow-based slimes, where the instant snow powder might shed onto hands or surfaces during manipulation. This shedding contributes to the gradual reduction in the slime's mass, particularly noticeable after multiple uses.
